Guide to Using ASSP Deluxe Anti-Spam Software

Our servers use ASSP Deluxe, an advanced anti-spam solution, to protect your email. This guide explains how to manage spam, whitelist addresses, and optimize ASSP's performance using its email interface. Replace clientdomain.com with your actual domain in all commands below.

How ASSP Deluxe Works

  • Automatic Whitelisting: When you send an email, the recipient’s address is automatically added to your whitelist, ensuring their replies are not blocked.
  • Important: Never reply to spam, as this will whitelist the spammer’s address.
  • No Quarantine: Instead of a quarantine, ASSP collects blocked emails in a spambox (accessible via cPanel) and uses Bayesian filtering to improve spam detection based on your reports.
  • Spambox Access: Log in to cPanel, click Spam and Virus Protection > ASSP Deluxe, then click the red SPAMBOX button for help and configuration.

Key Email Commands for ASSP Deluxe

Use these email addresses to interact with ASSP Deluxe. Always replace clientdomain.com with your domain.

  1. Report Spam (Unblocked Spam in Your Inbox):
    • Forward spam emails to assp-spam@clientdomain.com.
    • Tip: Forward as an attachment or copy the full email (header + body) to preserve original headers. Multiple emails can be sent as attachments.
    • This trains ASSP to block similar spam in the future.
  2. Report Non-Spam (Good Emails Blocked in Spambox):
    • If a legitimate email is in your spambox (IMAP: /spambox folder; POP3: spambox@clientdomain.com), forward it to assp-notspam@clientdomain.com.
    • How: Right-click the email, select "Forward as attachment," address it to assp-notspam@clientdomain.com, and send.
    • Result: You’ll receive a confirmation email, and ASSP will learn to allow similar emails.
  3. Whitelist an Email or Domain:
    • Send an email to assp-white@clientdomain.com with the email(s) or domain(s) to whitelist in the subject or body.
    • Examples:
      • Single email: user@example.com
      • Entire domain: *@example.com (wildcards supported)
      • Multiple entries: List multiple emails or domains.
    • Result: You’ll receive a confirmation, and the listed addresses/domains will be whitelisted.
    • Quick Fix: If a desired email is blocked, send them an email to auto-whitelist their address, or use this command.
  4. Remove from Whitelist:
    • Send an email to assp-notwhite@clientdomain.com with the email(s) or domain(s) to remove from the whitelist in the subject or body.
    • Result: You’ll receive a confirmation, and the addresses/domains will no longer be whitelisted.
  5. Block an Email or Domain (Personal Blacklist):
    • Send an email to assp-persblack@clientdomain.com with the email(s) or domain(s) to block (e.g., *@example.com for a domain).
    • View Blacklist: Send an empty email to this address to get a report of your personal blacklist.
    • Result: Listed addresses are added to your personal blacklist.
  6. Remove from Personal Blacklist:
    • Send an email to assp-notpersblack@clientdomain.com with the email(s) or domain(s) to remove from your blacklist.
    • Result: Listed addresses are removed from your blacklist.
  7. Analyze a Suspicious Email:
    • Forward an email to asspanalyze@clientdomain.com for spam analysis.
    • Result: You’ll receive an email with analysis results.
  8. View Blocked Email Report:
    • Send an email to asspblock@clientdomain.com to get a report of blocked emails.
    • Customize Report:
      • Add a number in the subject (e.g., 7) to get a report for the last X days.
      • Default: 5 days if no number is specified.
      • Add a regular expression after the number to filter the report (e.g., 7 sender@example.com).
    • Daily Reports: Contact technical support to set up automatic daily reports at midnight.

Tips for Best Results

  • First Few Days: ASSP builds its whitelist dynamically based on your sent emails. Monitor your spambox for misclassified emails and report them using assp-notspam@clientdomain.com to improve filtering.
  • Avoid Forwarding Spam Without Attachments: Simple forwards strip headers, reducing ASSP’s ability to learn.
  • Check Spambox Regularly: Access it via cPanel > Spam and Virus Protection > ASSP Deluxe > SPAMBOX to review blocked emails.
  • Detailed Help: In the ASSP Deluxe cPanel interface, click the HELP button (top right, near Change Language) for in-depth documentation.
